South Sudan’s president Salva Kiir Mayardiit announced yesterday at Dr John Garang Mausoleum the release of SPLM-IO former spokeperson James Gatdet Dak.
South Sudanese citizens particularly SPLM-IO supporters were expecting Dak and South African ex-colonel and adviser to Riek Machar, William Endley to be freed on Thursday as said by the president during peace celebration however, the interior minister Michael Chiangjiek has said it is a public holiday today but he assured the public that Gatdet and other political detainees shall be released on Friday 2nd of November 2018.
“The release of James Gatdet and Endley has been delayed because it is a public holiday in the country. They will be released on Friday morning, “South Sudan’s Interior Minister, Michael Chiangjiek told Radio Tamazuj this afternoon.

James Gatdet was picked at his residence in Lavington, Nairobi Kenya on Wednesday morning of 2nd November 2016. He was then deported to South Sudan where he’s being detained for exactly 2 years.
