Motorists in Juba City will now be paying parking fees under a new revenue collection initiative by Juba City Council.

The Former Deputy Mayor for Physical Infrastructure and Development at the Juba City Council, Thiik Thiik Mayardit, says each motorist is expected to pay 100 South Sudanese Pounds per hour.

The town municipality has contracted a company to carry out the exercise across the capital city.

Those mandated to collect the fees are dressed in orange uniforms and are instructed to give motorist tickets as proof of payment.

Thiik Thiik told Radio Miraya that only government and consular vehicles will not be subjected to paying the fees. He stressed that the initiative is meant to collect revenues for the country.
